I have to tell you, Paula, that I am a model of good behaviour when we go out on our little jaunts. However, you will need to practise the piole dancing before you join us - we don't want to show you up!!!!
Lots of love - have a good weekend. Jeanxxxxx

Hi Chrissie, I realise not everyone will be entitled to a railcard ... but some will and it was just a thought for those who don't wish to drive! melly wrote: could all be at same time as closer than 1 thinks
Hi Melly, The cities listed were grouped geographically as centres within an area, i.e. presumably people living in the south east could reach locations such as London, Cambridge and Maidstone without too much difficulty. I wasn't suggesting holding 'meet ups' in London, Cambridge and Maidstone all at the same time!! Lyn x

Oh no! Not the scissors! Lyn, I am sorry to have to tell you that scissors are banned from The Grouse. The ban came into being after Julie M brought hers with her. Doreen xx

Anthea - it would be wonderful if you and Jeff could get up to Glossop. It's such a long way for you to come BUT if you are ever up here on holiday, let us know. Doreen and I are always up for a jaunt to Glossop. Great food and good company in lovely surroundings!

Disabled rail card is very handy to get... providing you are eligible ; If you get DLA mobility component at higher or lower rate, or DLA care component at middle or higher rate then just send copy of award letter. Same applies if you receive attendance allowance. Also, please remember that you can arrange assistance for your rail journey... You do not need to have a disabled persons railcard to do this.... Even if its to help with bags, or to change trains... I agree that coach travel can be expensive if we were to organise it ourselves... it could work out cheaper if one of us could drive it but for me, it'd need to be automatic. National Express travel to major destinations, usually pick up from local bus stations and again you can book assistanceAs so many of us have met now, we could also consider car sharing which would help keep costs down and provide some company for the journey. The other thing we could look at, particularly if we're thinking of having a few meets throughout the year, is to look at a hotel chain who might be able to provide discount for stays. The only problem with this, is they usually want a minimum booking but as we meet up more and more, and providing when we organise them we book it as a NRAS meet, it will be easier to negotiate when they look at previous stays... Its usually these chains that have all the facilities, access, pools etc (although given the pole dancing, tassles and sheer naughtiness, there's no guarantee we'll be allowed back ) Helly x Celebrating 10yrs of National Rheumatoid Arthritis Society Doing a Tandem Skydive - May 2011 - All Sponsorship Welcome - www.justgiving.com/helencopeland Read my blog - Helly Copeland

Helly
I am not a member of Arthritis Care but I do go on there web site, mainly to read the forum. I remembered that I once read on there that members get some of discount at certain hotels. I have just checked, you have to look at membership and then click on membership discounts and yes, I have remembere right.
I'm not saying that we all become members of Arthritis Care but I am wondering if the same hotels were approached they may give members of NRAS the same discount. It's just a thought.

That's a great idea, Paula. I wonder whether this is something we would have to organise ourselves, or would NRAS havf to do it as we would be using their name? Hope you are busy practising the tassel swinging. I'm REALLY good at it now but Doreen is even bettr!!
